We May travel the world, but we should never forget our home

Sometimes its funny because we travel  far to find wonderful places and venture a lot of experiences without knowing that this places are near and  its just right at the corner.

Cebu is blessed with a roster of paradise form its pocket to choose to find a great gateway! But I have know an island, those fame have crossed the western and southern world for it's superb beauty and no need to travel far away from home to visit this wonderland..Camotes

Port Area

Camotes  is also called  “The Lost Horizon in the South.”  Of course, they are not called of that for nothing. They are called as such powerful tagline because of their unspoiled natural beauty,  a diverse island experience, a beautiful white sand, a preserved cultural heritage, a splendor spelunking site, a freshwater lake and outstanding biking routes.

Sights and sound...

Buho Rock is a small spot on a cliff that has cottages and (although rocky) a nice place for a swim or snorkel.

A jam-pack of natures finest awaits in Camotes island, from the crystal tortoise aquamarine sea upon docking in into the verdant emerald lush fresh oasis of the mountain down to the dwellings of the under ground world. All is rolled into this one magnificent and remarkable island experience only at Camotes ultimate island tour!

To start off, never  leave the island without exploring the Lake of Danao.  Both local and foreign visitors are encouraged to take Scenic Lake Cruise, a 30-min "sakanaw" ride that travels around the lake for a closer, better view of the surroundings, bringing it to life and taking its grandiose beauty to its highest level. Additionally,  the lake itself houses two other islets called Snake and Crocodile Islet making truly stunning. Moreover, the lake has a diverse flora and fauna that thrives within and around the lake. Making it an ideal sanctuary of endemic flora and fauna and do some kayaking for only Php 50  with some options single, for two and with the group.

I find caves amazing but I’m not really a fan. I’m a bit claustrophobic but I’m glad that I had the chance to visit Timubo, it might not as be popular as Bukilat in Tudela but it still draws countless visitors because of its fascinating stalactite and stalagmite and its fairly easier to penetrate to penetrate than the latter you'll just have to pay 20 pesos for entarance fee.

Beach hopping is more fun in Camotes those resorts are exceptionally beautiful as the other. With glistening waters and relaxed shores, are excellent places to swim and sunbathe undisturbed. Do not dare miss such beauty of Santiago Beach and Mangodlong.

These resort is fronting to the ocean with fine white sand and with wide-open views surrounding beaches. It is one of the favorite hang-outs of visitors, both local and foreign.

The difference is that Siantiago is free for public use and the other is a private property and thus you must shed some bucks.

Also another tourist destination to  visit is the Baywalk near in the public market, We had our lovely lunch there and the food is really good and very affordable .

Getting there.
An 8 flights daily is serving Manila to Cebu, and if you are from Mindanao once a day flight on major cities bound for Cebu,or yet a daily schedule of sea ferries for those who wants to travel by the sea.
From Cebu, the  average traveller is to hit off the road  via Danao, the Northern part of Cebu by a V- hire van located near to SM mall or have the one in North Bound Terminal to those who want to take a bus. As for the fare, prices may range, it's 50 bucks fare for a V hire or by a taxi for about half an hour drive without a traffic and it will cost you for about 300-350 pesos from the Airport. I advise you took the early morning trip to catch the first trip of the Jumalia barge for Consuelo port. From Danao a Roll on-Roll off boat you can take with a daily schedule: http://travelcamotes.com/schedule.html.
From Poro, hire a multicab or habal-habal and haggle to have a good tour around the island. The island tour is normally comprise a bountiful of sites to feast your eyes with marvelous Natures wonder.
Allow me to end this article with a words of wisdom from Saint Augustine, it goes " The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page."  When God had crafted the world with all his will for people to live in paradise, he never fail to create a perfect paradise for all. Uniquely beautiful from each other, let us make use of our time to see the wonders God had made for us to enjoy and Camotes is a great epitome of it.
